This book was a great resource.

A wonderful, practical collection of very useful tips that I wish I could have referred to when my wife and I were raising children.

Although Parents magazine features this every month, it's amazing that they've created an entire BOOK about this useful information. At least one in five of these tips could work for you. I've learned a lot in the past two years from just other parents' advice and strategies. It also helps you stimulate alternative ways of disciplining your children. I recommend this book to all parents willing to learn a little more about themselves and their children. Instead of arguing and cleaning up, you'll spend more quality time with the little people you love.

As one who is friends with Jim Peters, I can recommend this book to anyone who is a Texas history buff, especially those with an interest in Ranger lore. Jim truly was a Ranger when "Rangers were Rangers".

Jim Peters has had a remarkable life, and it's fascinating to read about his adventures as a Texas Ranger. The author makes you feel as though you're right there with Peters and the Rangers as they piece together evidence and track down the bad guys. The fact that these are true crime stories makes them all the more interesting. The ones involving coldblooded killers make you grateful for the courage and dedication of men like Jim Peters. Other stories involving lesser crimes and dumb or unlucky criminals are very funny. A neat book.

Jim Peters, Texas Ranger is extremely readable as it consists of great stories of the activities of this reknowned and capable Texas Ranger. The Rangers, of course, are the best of the best, and Jim Peters was highly respected by his fellows. He was involved in the resolution of a lot of high-profile cases and the book is an interesting piece of both true crime and history.

this book is amazing... reflections on life, love, loss and highways. as lee says, you cant always call [sonic youth] music, but you can usually call it sound. well i cant always call this book poetry, but anyone who reads it will see the power of lees words. 5 stars!

this book is really cool. lee is an excellent writer and anyone interested in his, or sonic youth's work should read it. the photography is great too.

fans of lee and fans of leah alike will always remember those rocket screaming, headcase creaming, psycho reaming, and convulsion dreaming days of volcanic glory. hey, don't we all? even still, lee's acounts easily rile old ghosts thought long dead and trampled on. go lee! (goalie! heh-heh.)

so anyway. any fan of lee, leah, or SONIC YOUTH will enjoy this book gluttonously. lee's writing style is jacked up, true, but usually in the best way. the very pages come to life and strangle and intimidate the reader with ruthless efficiency, rendering them stunned and confused and feeling momentarily adrift in their surroundings. a truly thrilling congregation of words and pictures.

a minor drawback would be the book's tendency to cause temporary consentration disruptions, and temporary short-term memory loss. that, and it's super harsh.

in closing i highly recommend this literature. it, frankly, is perfect.

This book is not only great for kids, but also for the whole family, it's full of wonderful ideas and great advice, the chapter on "Financing your own business" was excellent.

I read this book ten years ago when it first came out. Simon was a hero to die for...the heroine is one 'real' woman can relate to..no beauty queen..no victoria's secret model..a genuine bookworm, overweight everyday person. I can't go into great deal on the book as its been years since I read it..but I do remember she ended the book with an ending that screamed we'd be seeing sexy Simon again..and nothing..Ms Weathersby hasn't written a book since. Where are you Lee?..we want to know what else is in store for these two lovers. This was a great book job well done..but we want more!

I have read hundreds upon hundreds of vampire books. THIS one, above almost every other, sticks out in my mind. It is wonderfully written, and has an amazing story. I don't have too much time on my hands, but I re-read this book every few months. I strongly suggest they put this book back into print!

This book was awesome!! The story was an original for a vampire novel. For one the main character,a girl, is not the usual run-of-the-mill beautiful human any vampire would want to seduce. She begins as an overweight bookstore shopkeeper, then by a freak accident her life is forever changed and intertwined with the two vampire brothers.
It's a thriller/romance sort of vampire novel that has a edge of your seat ending leaving you thoroughly satisfied,but still wanting to know more about what happens to the characters later.

This book leaves the reader forever changed. It tells the story of the Kwangju uprising--one of the most important events in the history of the struggle for freedom in the latter part of the 20th century. Beyond a history of Korea, this book and its story is of utmost importance to all human beings.

This is an important book for anyone interested in Korea, human rights, or political movements. An excellent introduction by Bruce Cumings establishes the context; an equally excellent afterward by Tim Shorrock addresses the incident from the viewpoint of US foreign policy. But it is the diary itself that is truly unforgettable.

This detailed, almost moment-by-moment account of the Kwangju rebellion is a fascinating read. A student protest leads to a vicious government crackdown so extreme - using elite paratroop forces against simple protesters - that the people of the city give up their lives and eventually take up arms to take their city back. The introduction provides a capsule history of South Korea, and the afterward an account of the American government's cowardly behavior before, during and after the rebellion. It's a fast read but will leave a lasting impression.

And I'm talking seriously good pictures(though ironically,there aren't that many of Lee's great landscapes in the book).This book contains all you could want for colour landscape photography(no digital stuff-'it was 1st published in'98).It inspired me to take up photography seriously a few years ago and having read many books/magazines/'net stuff on landscape photography,this is my absolute reference guide.It comes highly recommended.

If I tell you by reading a book will turn you from an amateur to a professional, I'm lying. However, the Book has helped me to transform from a tourist on photography to a serious amateur. Meeting frustrations? Of course! I have written to Lee Frost to express thanks on what I have learnt from him, he didn't even give an acknowledgement note. I sent that letter with my first serious project, about 20 pictures, costing me HKD400 (c.USD51.00) mail charges and he did not reply. I have tried to convince myself that I have sent to the wrong address (Argentum Publishing, UK). Another frustration is here. I have bought the book at HKD400 while the listed price is only GBP19.99. This is a penalty for buying from local bookstores in non-English speaking countries instead of via amazon.com. Anyway, this book has given me pleasure many times beyond the copper I have spent.

Now, let's go back to the Book. I'm more a reader than a photographer and I have read a number of books, including some written by Lee Frost, but no other books have prompted me into action like the Book. I have taken pictures for many years with quite a few borrowed cameras and eventually I bought my first camera (Nikon F-70) six years ago in 1995 when my daughter was born. That camera was originally intended to take snapshots of her and some pictures as a tourist. However, after carefully studying the Book and more importantly, trying to practise what Lee Frost has taught in the book, the processing shop I used for my first serious project (a professional laboratory which is expensive to an amateur) is still hanging one of my landscape pictures at the reception counter (for more than two years now).

The first part of the Book is called a Gallery section featuring ten of Lee's landscape images. The construst Lee has used is very practical, ie, you can use. Firstly, the location: what features on that landscape will make a beautiful picture difficult. Then, about the time when you are trying to take a picture and how the sun's angle will affect the image and colour. Subtle lighting differences may not be noticed by careless naked eyes but to a photographer, a slight change in incidental lighting will change the look of that landscape. Then Lee explains what techniques he has applied to the picture and what equipment he has used? Lee will tell you how he has choosen between 3-D Matrix, spot metering and incidental metering for that picture. He will also tell you why he has used graduated filters or a polariser on that picture. If you follow Lee's recommendation on the film he likes or the filters he favoured, you will not regret.

I have followed the things I have learnt from Lee's Gallery section in a four-day section during which I have taken 266 pictures - I'm surprised how much my pictures have improved.

The second half of the Book is called "Technical Section". The topics is generally covered by most "weekend guides" or "the complete guide" but I suspect such writers are copying from the dictionary on sophisticated topics (to an amateur), for instance, "hyperfocal focusing", "reciprocity effect", "how the exposure compensation function of your camera may help" and "the use of polariser and graduated filters". What Lee Frost has done is to guide a layman throughout so that this laymen, provided that he or she has put efforts in practising rather than mere reading, can actually apply such concepts when taking pictures.

It's a pity that the book is out of stock at the time of writing but I am glad to learn from the on-line reviews that Lee Frost's other book, "The Complete Guide to Night and Low-light Photography", has been well-received. I have just ordered this book minutes ago via amazon.com.

Not all Lee Frost's books I have read are good but this one has been very helpful to me. On the other hand, if you want to proceed from a "craftsman" to an "artist", you may have to try something else.

recomended. good look at a set of frosts pictures, why they work, what equipement and techniques where used to produce them. good starting point for the aspiring landscape photographer with enphasis on medium format.

This is a very good book on the Overland Campaign of 1864. It is the story of the great campaign between Lee and Grant. The author writes very good character sketches of Lee, Longstreet, Ewell, and Hill. He also tells about the lower level officers of the Army of Northern Virginia. He does show bias against Longstreet who he does not think very highly of. Grant fans will not be too happy with some of the narrative. But it is a book about Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia not Grant and the Army of the Potomac. For the flip side of the coin I highly recommend Bruce Catton's "Surrender at Appomattox" which is an excellent account of the Army of the Potomac in these campaigns.

An excellent work that in my opinion captures the essence of the Confederate failure. Dowdy debunks the myths of Grant the butcher and the subsequent "Lost Cause" explaination that the South lost the war due to the overwhelming superiority of Northern numbers, industry, weaponry and supply. Dowdy places the blame with Jefferson Davis, Braxton Bragg, the CSA War Department and to some extent on P.G.T. Beauregard. The decentralized defensive strategy adopted by Davis, led to the inability by General Lee and other CSA field commanders to sufficiently concentrate the forces necessary to defeat the Union armies.

The author writes a simply marvelous history of the great generalship of an almost god-like Robert E. Lee.
Read how sheer numbers, not superior leadership, allowed U.S. Grant final victory.
Although I think this book is out of print, I would highly recommend any history or Civil War buff to search hard for it. They will not be dissapointed.

This is a question and awnser book that is eazy to read and awnsers questions that every deer hunter has asked him self a dozen times before.This would be a good book for kids to read.When it comes to deer Leonard Lee Rue is my guru.Great book Leonard !

This book is a question and answer book. The entire book is full questions about the whitetail deer. Leonard usually has data to support his answers to the questions in his book. He also gives other people credit when he uses an answer that he learned from their studies. This is a great book for either beginners or experienced hunters. I have been hunting for 14 years and I learned a lot of things from this book.
